My client took over the comms cab and existing infrastructure when they moved in and, although the cab seemed to be in good order, unfortunately the hardware needed updating.

I questioned myself as to why there were two 24 port switches when only 16 data points were live around the premises – I soon discovered that both switches had faulty ports.

The old Draytek router was end of life and dropping data packets frequently.

Wi-Fi was provided by an old Tenda modem and was not secured, meaning a single unsecured SSID for both staff and guests alike. Accessing Wi-Fi was also patchy around the building.

This old and redundant kit was replaced with a full Ubiquiti Solution consisting of:

  • Single 24 port L3 Gigabit PoE switch to power the VoIP handsets and Access Points
  • Two Long range Wi-Fi 6 Access Points with 8 spatial streams
  • Dream Machine UDM Wi-Fi 5  with Gigabit routing

The end result is a superfast, secure and state of the art solution with Gigagbit backbone, remote management, secured guest Wi-Fi on separate subnet and full Wi-Fi coverage on both floors.
